Life Imitates Art

Check out this picture, it is a Lucian Freud painting held up against . . . the real deal?

We did not stage this at all. Jimmy was reading the book and we took the shot.
Pretty good, huh?
For kids.

Everyone Misses Jimmy

Jimmy is travelling right now and everyone is off their game. They all act wierd in their own way when he is gone. Felix is a little more needy, Simone a little more liable to eat a whole plastic bag if given a chance and Lulu a little bit more spaced out with alternate loco.

Maxine, on the other hand, is a wholly different beast. She becomes about ten times more obstinate and barky. She tries to lure me outside to play and the refuses to play, she barks until I yell "NO" at her and then she sulks.

Even though, as Jimmy says, cats do like change a lot. They really like all their people here with them. They kind of start losing it a bit.
Or maybe its me.

WELCOME JAG!!!!!!!

We have the very honored pleasure of introducing Jag, my sister Lisa and her daughter Sophia's, new cat to the family.

Everyone out there, please meet Jag. He is only 5 months old and had to come into a new family with another cat and two big dogs and two kids this week. Its been a big week for Jag!!!!

But from what I hear, he is doing great and the other cat likes him a lot.
They are sure to be good friends.

Pouting Maxine

Maxine went in for her annual dental scraping this week. Greyhounds have bad teeth and in order to keep them (the choppers) for the longest duration possible they recommend annual teeth cleaning. They have to put her under anaesthesia for the procedure. Last year they had some problems when she was out but this year everything went great.

She has been pouting ever since.

At first it was outright whining and now she is just depressed and probably mad at us for taking her to the doctor! Poor Maxine!

Simone

Simone is showing off the finished, painted walls and the new couch.

Isn't she lovely?

Helping Jimmy Paint the Trim

Lazy gatos!

Lazy, lazy, lazy gatos! Moving from one soft, sunshine space to another all day long.

This is Sickman (Simone) sleeping on her princess and the pea bed. They love sleeping on this long tall piece of furniture.

This is Felix, sleeping on that same piece of furniture. They really love to sleep!

This is Lulu, sleeping half out of the bowl in an effort to get some sugar from Felix! The funny thing is her trick is working since Felix is licking away! Koof!

Maxine's Matzo Balls

Jimmy and I had a traditional Jewish Sedar dinner and read the story of the Israelites exodus out of Egypt.

The next morning, Maxine was lucky enough to get one of the matzo's from our matzo ball soup!

Maxine's Easter Octapus

This is maxine laying on the new couch with her new Easter Octapus. Gerard brought over an Easter basket for us with all kinds of interesting items. This one was a little pink octapus that Maxine now carries around the house with her.

It is the first time she has ever "bonded" with a toy!

She is learning a lot more about toys and what dogs are supposed to do with them from her friends Bruno and Marley. She has even played pseudo-fetch with Jimmy in the back yard.

Welcome Doc!

WELCOME DOC THE CAT!!!!!

The glendora folks have a new cat, its Piper's cat I believe and her name is DOC.

This is a picture of Teyha and Piper holding Doc.

I wonder what Doc's meow sounds like?

Welcome to the Guerrero family little Doc-ee!

White paint, Black fur

It was bound to happen, the two cats got paint right on the tip of their noses. The little one got paint all along the back of her leg but has not stopped long enough to get a picture of it!

The Gang's All Here

This morning Jimmy started painting early and when I came out of the bedroom all the animals were sitting there watching Jimmy paint! In the picture little koof had already scamped off to do some damage elsewhere but it is a great picture. I told you they helped him paint! Even miss sulky decided to get into it.

Maxine's Injured Paw (or Grandmaster Sulk)

You all know by now that Maxine's favorite thing to do in the world is: what?

What do you think?

RUNNING! She loves to run and even better if she can run after another dog or small animal. Everything she was born with and everything she learned as a young pup has been focused on one thing: RUN.

She has a group of dogs that she gets together with in our various back yards. This past Monday it was at our house and she was running around with her friend Marley and suddenly she was bleeding. Well we found a big cut on her paw! She wasn't in pain and wasn't yelping but was VERY upset when we put her inside and she had to watch all the other dogs play in HER backyard. She is very good at sulking.

This picture is from a few days later. She has had to stay off her paw, which means no running! She doesn't get all of that so she thinks we are just being mean! This is an unusual position for her to sit in (we call it the sphinx). She usually sits like this in protest. She normally does not sleep on anything not softer than a thick mattress so for her to even be on the hard wood is unusual. This is why her new nickname is Grandmaster Sulk.

Felix the Long

This is a very narrow ledge above the cupboards which is very challenging to jump to. We have seen the cats walk up there before but we have never seen anyone sleep! It is rather narrow so Felix just made himslef as long as possible and started to snooze. Remember he is the largest cat!

Painting With Gatos

Jimmy is painting the whole inside of our house and guess who has been helping him? You guessed it! The gatolinos, the black radishes, the ones in the monkey suits - whatever you call them the three black cats have been Jimmy's painting crew. You may not think that cats are good painters, but they really are. See Felix with Jimmy here in this photo? Working hard or hardly working!
So far no white paint on these black cats, but we has a long way to go before the painting is done!

New Cat Territory

Well, we haven't been able to blog since our camera was broken awhile back. We recently got our new one and are back on the blog!
We have been doing a lot of rearranging of the house which the cats love (they love change) and which Maxine hates. She hates the noise and then hates the cats going crazy. Cats like new surfaces to sit on and they like to fight over certain new, primo spots (warm, soft, full of sun, or boxed in). It has been constant chaos with the three finding new spots and then trying to keep the spot as their own.
Here are some of the new territory created lately.
