Maxine and the Foster Dog

Maxine is none too fond of the Foster Dog. She is tolerating the situation fine, she is just a little long in the face and she sighs a little more frequently.

He is just so drastically different than her and she really does not appreciate the way he crowds her with his big, unrefined walking and pushing.

He follows her around, too, which is not only most annoying but it makes it difficult to do anything at all but lay in bed and defend it from him.

Finally, he is loud and if there is one thing that really irritates Maxine it is loudness. It is something she just can't admire in another dog and something that inturrupts her more refined way of ruling the roost. Sigh. Well, she has five days and five nights almost exactly until he goes back to the place from whence he came. Not that she is counting the hours or anything . . .

Felix and The Little Bird

It may be difficult to see in this picture, but Felix just sat and stared at this bird who had settled on our front porch.

He must have sat there for longer than 5 minutes.

In the beginning, Felix was chattering his teeth in excitement and flipping his tail harshly back and forth, making a claping sound.

As the bird just kept sitting there, Felix got more and more calm and was just staring to see what the little bird would do.

Eventually he just flew off!

Farmer's Market with Luke and Maxine

Before going to the Farmer's Market, we had to get the dogs ready for their outing. We always get a lot of attention at the farmer's so it is a great place to try and get Luke an interested adopter! But first, everyone had to get their baths.

Don't they look happy?

We walked through the Farmer's Market and while I was buying coffee Jimmy was talking up the dogs with the people.

It was a great opportunity for someone to, in person, fall in love with sweetheart Luke. He was excellent on the leash and in the new environment (a very busy one at that).
We ended up giving a few people his name and told them to look him up on the website. Hopefully someone will follow up with some genuine interest.

Lulu Climbing the Post aka Gratitutude

KOOF!!!!!!
I just saw a really sick cat outside, so skinny and sick. But really cute, all white. It made me so sad to see her suffer and so grateful for the health of all our little critters!

Luke AKA Pancho

Cute picture of him in the office. He loves to be wherever the people are!

Koof and Pancho

Jimmy has decided, from the great distance that spans Houston to Stockholm, Sweden, that he does not like the name Luke and prefers if we call him Pancho. So Pancho it is!

I love this picture of Lulu and Pancho! They are the two most curious and most chill, easy going creatures. They are really two peas in a pod, although Lulu is a little bit more of a scamper than Pancho. Greyhounds, especially right off the track, have a hard time scamping. They are a little more awkward than that!

This is a priceless picture of Pancho with the black radishes, at least two of them. They can just tell he is as gentle as a lamb. None of them have been the slight bit afraid of him, although Felix was a bit more catious than the others at first.

Koof Koof and more Koof!!!!

I have recently received complaints that there are definitely not enough pictures of KOOF on the blog, so I intend on remedying the situation. Fortunately, I do have some new pictures, taken today of none other than Lulu AKA King Koofoo or DBA KOOF!

This is a series of pictures of Lulu NOT eating. As soon as everyone is at their stations (they all eat in private dining cars) Koof thinks this is the exact, perfect moment to get pets from me. So I have all the dishes out and the food ready to be scooped and there is Lulu rubbing up against me for pets!
The second picture, she is actually trying to rub up against my hands and the camera. The shot kind of makes her look like Fu Man Chu!

It takes her a really long time to eat her food, she is barely interested in it. She gets distracted by the busy kitchen and doesn't really eat until
there is noone in the room.
The last picture is after the food has been consumed. Even if she doesn't think she needs food I think she is much happier if she does eat food, don't you!

Lazy Days

At the end of the day, the yard was just a bunch of lazy, sleeping grehounds! Be sure to check out Maxines fancy new collar!

Luke

This is a super cute picture of Luke, he is a real sweetheart! Alix took this picture, doesn't he look sweet?

The Actual Meeting

These are two pictures of each of them when they met for the first time in the living room. Maxine was on the couch, which Luke is not allowed to do. Anyway, Maxine told him pretty clearly with her growls that she did NOT want him on her couch.

They both HATED their muzzles and Maxine looked at me like I was the devil!

We took the muzzles off pretty quick, they really didn't get too excitable. They layed around like a bunch of greyhounds!

Maxine Meet Luke

Here is a great picture of Max and Luke before they met. My friend Alix came over to help with the process and thank god she did! The first thing we had to do was wash Luke outside to get the kennel slime off him. While we were out there Maxine was very excited inside, jumping up and down whenever I came in, and then they had this exchange of looking at each other through the glass.

We scrubbed and scrubbed him but some of his white fur is a little stained. I will keep working on it and also get him some good nutrients to help his skin become a little better. He was very good while being bathed, the water was cold and he was very tolerant.

Luke - The Foster Greyhound

Jimmy and I decided to foster a greyhound. They had a whole bunch of them and needed temporary homes so we thought it would be a good idea to see how it went. Unfortunately, I didn't realize we had to pick them up today, when Jimmy was in Sweden! He is usually the boss of stuff like this so I was a little nervous.
This is a picture of Luke in our truck! It took about 10 minutes for me to convince him to get in. I used treats and then had to kind of shove him up there.
He has never been in a home before and everything has been new to him, like the truck. But on the ride home he put his head over the seat and rested it on my shoulder and stayed there for awhile while we drove. I knew at that moment that everything would be ok!
But now it was time to meet Maxine!

Vigilante Snacking

Simone is holding out for snacks! With Jimmy gone, Simone has had to take things into her own hands. No more hand outs. No more freebies. She has had to get back to her roots, back to vigilante snacking.

For those who do not know, here is the official definition of vigilante:
One who takes or advocates the taking of law enforcement into one's own hands.

In this case, "law enforcement" refers to "snack enforcement" and Simone has taken it to the extreme. Below where this picture was taken she has a barricade up waiting to trap the first unsuspecting food carrier into her lair. Man, woman or child!

Sneaky, sneaky snacky Simone. I hope she doesn't catch ME sneaking into the kitchen or its curtains for me!

Keep on Trucking

This is Felix posing for the camera, trying to act like his motto is "Keep on Trucking."

But he actually stole it from little Koof who doesn't need a fake picture of her acting like its her motto because she lives it everyday!

There are those who try and those who do!

Carpe diem Koof!!!!!

Finally Tired

Everyone finally got tired . . .

This is the closest I got to having all the dogs in the same place at the same time . . .

Introducing Sophie

Best for last. How can I describe Sophie????

Tenacious D.

Very focused.

Very on point. 24 - 7.

This is a great action shot of Sophie. This is her to a T. Her screen name is "Lucy", but we all know that wouldn't have lasted long anyway. She is Sophie to the end.

More pictures . . . . .

Ok, so I don't have many good pics of Sophie! She moves too fast even for my digital camera. Alas, Sophie moves to the groove of her own drum. Very very fast drum, that does not let up and definitely does not let Allison sleep . . . .

Bruno and Sophie Tear it Up

Here is Bruno and Sophie in the functionaly equivelant of the lull after the kill. They just "de-fluffified" a duck (stuffed that is). Both on point. Both at the best of their game.

But more pictures to come.......

SO CUTE!!!

Bruno amid the rose bushes.

Marley

Marley is the origin of our play group and the one who taught Maxine to bark! She is sweet and always up for good play.

Maxine and her play very well.

Here is Marley enjoying the benefits of a fan on a hot nights. Who wouldn't?

Wheato

Please meet Maxines long lost friend Wheato. We used to play together at My Dog And Me until Marley got kicked out. Everyone seems a bit more calm when Wheato is around.

She is just good, clean fun!

Maxine's Birthday!

Maxine has the same birthday as Piper! Can you believe it???

These are pictures from our birthday party today. We had four dogs there, all of them Maxine's best friends.

The funny thing is I don't have a good picture of Maxine during her own party. She was a little bit stand off-ish.
No surprise.
But it was a good time. Come on, meet the friends!

San Jose Animal Farm aka Evan's Pets

Let me introduce you to Fonzy and Spanky, the boston terriers (or terrorizers) from San Jose, CA. This is where our friend Evan lives with his two dogs and two cats.

You will see them in the next DVD as they played quite furiously together. It was very entertaining.

The little one, Spanky, likes it when you blow bubbles. He can jump really high and he jumps up and catches the bubble right in his mouth!

The pictures below are our friends very old cats! One blacky and one grey.
