Koof and Faf

This is ridiculously cute. However, do not be fooled. All snuggling with these cats ends with some form of aggression. Even if it is just worked in between licks and snogs.

Koof did her traditional drop in prior to this picture (BTW Felix is right now curled on my left arm trying to force the right hand to pet him so I am typing with one hand).

Felix's spot is right next to me, on my right, on the bed. He prefers the white sheet to the blanket. I was reading on my side and Felix was next to me. Lulu came up the other side of the bed, walked across my body like a billy goat and then ducked down into where Felix was and immediately curled into him. All the while she is trilling incessantly.

KOOF!

Tear Dropping on the Bed

Perched

I told you about this the other day, this is Felix perched on my shoulder. He has his paws up on my shoulder and he sits there while I type. It is really wierd.

It was very hard to get a picture of it, I had to stretch my hand as far back as I could get without disrupting Felix!

Tear Drop

This is another classic pose, the Tear Drop. Simone is resting her chin over the edge of the babooshka.

You can see it better in the detail picture but this is a great shadow picture of Simone with the bright sunlight behind her.

I took that picture about five minutes ago and now there is deep thunder and the sky is getting dark. It looks like another Texas thunderstorm!

Good thing I snapped that picture when I did!

Downward Dog

This is the classic "downward dog" pose, can you tell that she is stretching her arms forward and her bottom up and back? All the animals do this many times a day, day in and day out. They have to do this stretch everytime they wake up and move about.

Jimmy always jokes that this is their yoga.

Guess what? Jimmy got stuck in Stockholm! He has to be away two extra days!!!!!

Everyone is depressed now.

Rhymin' and Stealin'

Here are the Black Radishes chillin' at Guerrero HQ . If you can believe it, this picture was taken while they were all waiting for me to make the next move that meant they would get fed!

The hour and a half leading up to when they get fed they are on edge, listening for any and all sounds that may mean we are moving into the kitchen which in turn may mean that they are getting fed.

We will both be on our computers working and maybe one of us gets up to get the phone and as soon as they hear the sound of the chair they all go running and yowling. They are seriously the biggest weirdos when it comes to food.

Oh yeah, and by "they" I definitely mean only Felix and Simone. Lulu is very nonchalant with food, she kind of takes it or leaves it. She just likes to "bury" it when she is done.

Sunday, June 24, 2007

These are pictures I just took at 12:04 PM and this is what is going on right now.

I caught her in a moment of contemplation. Notice the bright sun. If you could see over the window ledge you would see the freshly cut grass, not yet cleaned up off the sidewalk. It looks really good.

Sickman and Felix are alternately chasing each other and yowling. These two pics were when Felix just stole the green bed and Simone ran into the office to claim the green bed.

Lulu doesn't really want to get caught up with their shinanigans this morning. She is laying low in her most recent favorite spot.

Maxine is waiting moment to moment to see if we are going to do anything interesting. What she doesn't know is that she is next on my list. We are going to go for a walk and then when the gardners are done she will get a buffalo tail to gnaw on.

Sicky Needs Pets!!!!

This blog post dedicated to Jimmy Guerrero.

Simone has gotten in the habit of needing lots and lots of pets every day. She trills and cries and begs borrows and steals for them. Her favorite place to get pets is in the closet. Preferably when you are half naked or with one shoe on and one shoe off.

Today I think she is missing Jimmy, who is her primary pet provider, and just wanted pets wherever and however.

This is obviously on my desk by my computer. She just kept pacing back and forth accross my desk begging for pets (she is actuallly crying for pets and rubbing my legs as we speak - so much that Maxine just got annoyed and walked out of the room).

Felix the Bugger

Whenever I work on my computer Felix thinks it is the perfect time to get pets and attention. He does this in the most obvious and annoying ways.

One of his favorite moves is whenever he sees my hands he believes they should be petting him so he barrells into whatever I am doing and begins forcing his head under my hands. Imagine that move when you are on a computer. He usually ends up walking over the keys, or hitting F4 that basically makes the computer go to sleep or accidentally hitting CTRL-ALT-DELETE and shutting down the system. Even if I pet him with one hand, he is constantly trying to get at the other hand. He has also lately been putting his hind quarters on my lap and putting his paws and head up on my shoulder so I end up looking like I am holding him like a baby.

I tried to take a picture of it awhile back but I just couldn't capture just how odd it really was with my own hands taking the picture of myself!

French Blues

Jimmy left today for France and it has been raining with thunder and lightening all day. Everyone kind of has the France Blues. Maxine, in particular, does not like it when Jimmy goes away. She prefers her pack to always be together.

I do too!

For those of you who can't tell our cats apart, this picture is of Simone. That's right. I know, it looks like koof. I thought I was taking a picture of koof because this is sort of her signature pose, but then I turned around and there was koof so I had to do a double take. Nope, it was simone!

Sunday Morning

We call it Noah's Ark - when everyone is on the bed at the same time.

And who says the New York Times doesn't bring families closer?

The family that reads The Times together, stays together!

[See how almost anything fits into that formula? It is because "together" rhymes with "together." very, very clever]

Arithmetic Lesson

I hate to brag, especially on a blog, but yes this is our three cats quietly and attentively listening to Jimmy give an arithmetic lesson.

They are not all as skilled an arithmetician as the next, but at least they turn in their lessons on time (except for Lulu!) and complete their quizzes (except Sickman, she prefers to eat the quizzes!).

Felix is trying to calculate the exact angle it takes to jump on the pillow, which will knock the book off the bed, which will in turn fall down on the ground hitting the tong side of a fork, which will go flying through the air and hit me on the head so I will promptly drop the piece of bacon I am holding in my hand. Which they are all staring at.

One can dream, right?

Sunshine Daydream

Well, this is about as tough as it gets for the Black Radishes. I know, it looks dreamy - taking naps in sunpatches late in the morning. Who wouldn't want a nice cat nap?

Keep in mind this is Sickman and Koof!

Sickman is probably doing a gutteral growl/hiss/kung fu sound as Lulu triumphantly ignores her.

No doubt, this idyllic scene will end with some serious wrestling (with claws) and someone walking away in defeat.

Prince and the Pea

This picture needs very little commentary.

Cats have an uncanny way of finding the highest, softest places. And what better than a stack of chair pads to provide BOTH!

I truly believe if we put a little pea under this stack of mattresses . . . .

Felix would STILL curl up and sleep like a little baby! (Or should I say a little kitten)
