Construction Opportunities

We are doing some more construction and apart from having to be enclosed in a single room for an hour or two every now and then the cats love the change! They have been going loco in the morning running in all the corners of our now empty bedroom (new sheet rock, paint and closet).

This morning Lulu was like a crazed bat flying around the house while the other cats tried to get in her way to stop her lunacy, or get a good pounce in.

I guess she wore herself ragged because now she is doing the dangerous tear drop!

She better get some sleep tonight because tomorrow is . . . . .

No! Not Halloween! It is the Black Radishes Birthday Celebration!!!

Sweater Weather

Maxine has mixed feelings about the changing weather.

On the one hand, she has much more stamina and energy when she plays with her friends Marley and Bruno.

On the other hand, it is sweater weather!

In the Bag

This is Lulu in the latest version of the cheapest cat toy on earth: a grocery bag (under supervision, Simone has run around with the handle around her neck like a yoke - not good!). Lulu was in the bag and the other cats would see it move and their hunting instincts would take over. They started stalking the creature in the bag and batting the bag a little bit.

In this picture Felix is actually looking at Simone who is planning to attack head on the entity in the bag. She is working her strategy, shaking that bottom and POUNCE! There she goes.

And who jumps out? Koof!!!

I frankly think Simone was a little bit disappointed!

The Heat is Gone

Adorable picture of Simone! The weather has finally turned here and we have some moments of actual cold weather. So much so that we took out the little radiators so we don't have to heat the whole house at night. Besides, it lures the little ones into the bedroom with us which Jimmy loves.

Can you see who is behind Simone on the other side of the heater?

KOOF! Normally Simone would be pouting and hissing and carrying on if little Lulu was in such close proximity. But maybe the heat was enough of a draw to just put up with it and enjoy!

Marley Spends the Night

This is Maxine's friend Marley. You should remember her from Max's birthday party last May. They play with each other three days a week (if the weather is good and the grown-ups don't have too many plans).

This was her first time spending the night. Don't worry she is not in a cage, she is in her bedroom. It is her special place to go where no one bothers her and she can be calm and sleep.

At first when her parents left she was on high alert. Very anxious and high strung. Looking out the window and assessing the situation. Wondering where her people were! But she and Maxine eventually settled into a routine and they had a great time.

This is Maxine - she never cares about her toys until another dog is around to want them! Then she hordes them

Double Clam Teardrop

I caught Lulu this morning doing the triple whammy - black babooshka, white clam and then doing the teardrop over the edge.

It seems like she is either ON or OFF. When she is awake she is running around, rarely strolling, terrorizing Simone or racing up the chairs and then back into the bedroom. But when she goes to sleep she is knock out tired! You can even see her super tired eyes in this picture.

Work for Snacks

This is a great toy Lara passed down to us when Nimbus wasn't playing with it much.

Can you tell what it is? It has holes on the top and sides so you can put balls inside, then the cats try to take them out.

However, they got pretty good at batting those balls out of the box. So what do you think we did? Put SNACKS inside.

They went absolutely crazy. It was a very, very challenging way to give them treats. So hopefully any calories they took in they burned off in the effort to get the treat!

They even used maximum TEAM WORK!
