Doggone Dog!

No sooner had I posted the last post about Maxine and the roped off holes she had placed throughout our yard when Jimmy called me to the backyard with the camera.

She was head to toe in dirt and comfortable located behind the corded off hole. In addition, she had created a NEW hole in an entirely different location.

They don't call her STUBS for no reason! I guess someone is going to get another bath tonight!

Kitten of Ribbons

Felix started pacing back and forth and starting something down in the yard today. He gets so worked up when any stray cat from the neighborhood starts prowling around the house.

It turns out it was one of the kittens of Ribbons, do you remember Ribbons??? Well, it is grown up now. Can you see her peering through the hibiscus?

Doggone to the Olympics

You may recall my post called Diggenest Dog. Well, this is part II. Maxine has dug two huge holes in our back yard. Jimmy keeps telling me she is trying to get to China in time for the Olympics! I am not sure if that what is motivating her, but she sure seems motivated to dig dig dig!!!!!!

So in order to keep the yard in some semblance of order Jimmy has worked hard to fill the holes, keep them full and rope them off to keep Maxine out. This is her first experience of them and I do not think she is too thrilled about it. Did I mention she really loves to dig?

Seafood Boil

This is a delicious seafood boil Jimmy did yesterday for Simone. There was shrimp, crab legs, oysters and sausage boiled with potatoes. Sickman loved it! Oh yah, we had a side of red beans and rice. Everything was delicious!

Actually, this wasn't for Sickman, Jimmy made it for me for my birthday and it was delicious.

In Their Element

Here is a great picture of Olivia and Oliver chillin' in their own space! This is the top tier of their hutch on a nice sunny day. Jimmy has installed his large fan on the outside of the hutch to keep the robos cool in Houston heat. He also has a great additional method for keeping the rabbits cool - he freezes water in liter bottles and puts them in front of the fan. Old fashioned air conditioning!

Gato Bowl?

Oliver and Olivia spent some time last weekend indoors with us. This is a great picture of Olivia, sniffing the large wooden bowl with the words GATO BOWL on the outside.

Sickman's Strategy

With greyhounds up on their end like cockroaches, cats playing games with other cats and Maxine pouting all the while, Simone's strategy is peaceful retreat or otherwise known as "Later losers!"

Her post is perfect for sleeping, scoping (out snacks that is) and snacking! If Felix fishes a treat out of the sink or I drop some tasty morsel she is but a quick jump away from the action.

Koof is Doing the Move

She jumps up onto the bed near my feet. She sneaks up to the lounging Felix from behind. She starts kooing and purring. He reaches his neck back and she sneaks right over him in one gentle move and nonchalantly curls up or lands on him, acting cool as a cucumber. Although she does this day after day, night after night Felix always does exactly what she wants him to do: he starts licking her and they begin grooming each other! That's THE MOVE!

Greyt Scott!

This is Davey SLEEPING!

He is doing the serious cockaroacha.

He went from this position to almost standing at the stirring of our neighbors motorcycle, it was pretty funny.

Tonight

We are all just chilling out after a long evening. A good walk (well sort of, Big Lug is still learning about walks and all that!).

Shortly after this picture, Maxine came into the room with us.

Davey . . . . well, when he is sleeping he breathes heavier than the other animals, it is actually quite nice.

Felix is right next to me, as usual. Looking very beautiful in his sleek black monkey suit.

Koof is sporting her shamrocks, perfect for celebrating the 17th!

The Gatos Have Their Fun Too

The cats enjoy every new object that comes into the home. Here they are exploring the new crate Davey should be put in . . . too bad he really doesn't like to be confined! Today he busted free from the gate holding him in the bathroom. A true free bird!

How many cats do you see? I see three! Can you count them?

Weekend Fun

The dogs get CET dental chews (keeps their teeth sparkly like brushing!) . . . .

Maxine gets a bath . . . does she look like she is having fun yet?

Nothin but a Bunch of Hard Working Greys

Meet Gravy (aka Davy Jack and Who Said Go)

We are fostering another dog and isn't he a beauty!

We had a kind of scare when he first came over and made quite a leap at the rabbits outside in their cage! They started going a little nuts, which is very dangerous for rabbits. They don't know their own strength and can throw their bodies very hard against their home! They can injure themselves this way.

After we got him away from the hutch and started training him to leave the rabbits alone, he hasn't had any problems. Of course, introducing him to the cats was a little more scary after the rabbit incident! But he seems to be just fine with everyone.

Max had to "get her fang on" as we say it, she had to growl a bit a Gravy when he tried to get on her couch. But the battle for the softest spots is bound to be the fiercest among greys!

One little, Two little

How many cats can you count in this picture?

I see one, two cats and, yep, one rabbit!

How about this one?

I see one, two, three cats and one rabbit!

Oliver's Saga Continues - Chapter Ear

Sadly, tonight when Oliver came in to hang out with the family indoors it seems his neurological problem may be getting worse. His ear, on the same side of his body where his leg is injured, does not seem to be working right. You can see it pretty well in this picture. He still does not seem to be in any pain and his appetite is really good. Olivia is very protective of him and seems to take good care of him.

Getting Long, Queen of Sheba Style

This is Oliver and Simone! The rabbits get long like this when they are really relaxed and enjoying themsleves. Moments earlier Oliver and Simone were tucking into a nice big bowl of mustard greens. Yes, Simone loves mustard greens. And apparently eating them makes them both feel comfortable and in the mood to veg.

BFF Forever

Of course the title is a bit sarcastic since Simone normally wouldn't get this close to Lulu, especially on her own doing. Do you think Simone was drawn by the fact that she knew it would be such a doggone cute picture?

I don't think so! But whatever reason it is, this is a rare and cherished moment with these two little gatos looking as cute as can be.

Can you tell which one is Simone????

The Perch

We put the gate up to keep the rabbits in when they are staying with us. Lulu has taken a liking to perching up top the gate! She is the only one able to do this. Simone can get over the gate. Felix can only sit on one side of the gate and whine! Poor Fifi!

Lulu spent a lot of time up here. Just staring at the rabbits and watching them intently. She is quite a little character!

Rat and Cabbit

I believe this is Oliver and of course Lulu. It has been cold at night so the buns have come in for some warmth and friendship.

Even with Oliver's bum leg he is still curious and playful with the cats and with Olivia. They really stick together. I got lost in something I was working on and turned around and couldn't find them anywhere.

Finally I found the two of them curled up together, like a yin and yang symbol, underneath the tall piece of furniture we have with all the little drawers. They like to find little nooks to hang out in. That's why we put the boxes up for them to nestle into!

Maxine and Sicky

Chillin' in the morning sun!

Maxine at the Spa

When we were gone last weekend of coarse Maxine got to stay at the "spa." It is truly her home away from home where Gerard and Mike take care of her and spoil her to death. I swear if they had to choose between me and Maxine they would choose Maxine!

This is her proudly bearing the grass on her nose from the spot she has claimed as her own. Every time she goes over there this is where she lays down outside. She nests a bit before she plunks down on the soft, tall grass.

Maxine is on her indoor bed now, she often takes breakfast on the bed while at the spa. Sometimes she just can't deal with the little dogs first thing in the morning.

And finally there is a picture of her and Mike, in her new kitchen with her new owners . . . NOT REALLY but we can let them dream!

Koof's Bowl

This is absolutely ridiculous!

And needs no further explanation.

If the bowl wasn't big enough for Felix it certainly isn't big enough for both of them!

The Lure of the Sunspot

Once again the great sunspot makes right what was wrong, brings enemies together as friends and . . . . well, maybe its not all that! But it is significant that Simone and Lulu are within a paws throw from one another and yet they are both sleeping peacefully. Simone's paw is even leisurely resting on the edge of Lulu's clam. Perhaps there is hope for peace throughout the world if even the sworn enemy of Simone can rest within her reach.

Either that or Simone is chortling her Bruce Lee guttural sounds at Lulu as this picture was taken leaving us with only the appearance of peace! I am sure Koof was driven away somehow.

The Real Pirate

It has been well established that the crows nest is Koof's lair. It is a very small bowl and one that she alone has been able to fit into. Apart from that, it has her name on it and it was immortalized in the children's book "Three Black Cats and a Greyhound in Fishing on the Sea of Japan."

But alas, there are pirates everywhere and I guess Felix is just a comfort pirate! He stole Koof's bowl fair and square and even though this picture looks like he fits nicely in the bowl, in reality he pretty much spills out of it once he gets comfortable. The bowl is too small for his big body!

Two Buns in the Oven

Oliver and Olivia are spending the night in the office tonight. It is going to get down to 38 degrees, maybe even lower! So they are exploring their new quarters. The cats are keeping their eyes on the bunnies, with Koof in the forefront. She does not stop losing interest in her new friends. She is always with them, trying to do what they do.

The buns on their own accord are finding some good places to play. Jimmy is just hoping they keep their poop and thier pee in the litter box! Otherwise his office will be a stinky mess tomorrow.

Melty Melty Cheese

This does NOT need any explanation except that Koof spent way too long under the french fry lamp, she has melted all over the table. Somebody needs to turn that lamp off before she spills onto the floor!

Lounging Cats

While Jimmy works his tail off the cats simply lounge around, lazy as can be.

Enjoying the french fry lamp! Is that Sicky and Koof? Naw, it couldn't be!

South Side Gato

Here at SouthSide Cafe in Lompoc, CA we had my first art opening this weekend and lo and behold what was on the doorway from the cafe to the bookstore?

A little black cat! Doesn't it look like Koof!?

Lompoc Topaz

Meet Uncle Zen's cat Topaz. He is a big beautiful striped lovely creature. He was a little less than thrilled with humans today since he received his monthly flea prevention medication.

This is a truly urban cat, a cool cat, he is a San Francisco scittily scat cat. A cool San Francisco play it again sam cat. Did some time in Santa Barbara, yucking it up with some tripsters Galen and Hazel. Chilled out. Meowed a bit, scratched a little, slept a lot, did a few gigs with Charlie the Havanah Brown and Felix the loveable gangster.

Somewhere in the late 90's he rolled on down highway 249 and landed in the flower capital of California, a hip if not fogged out place, Lompoc, California. And tripped right into the hillbilly haven of non other than Bill Zen.
