Robo and Gato in Action

Please note: These pictures were taken in succession. The rabbit does not move, she keeps right on eating that timothy hay. I dare say Olivia is actually "chillin."

Olivia's New Pad

Jimmy has been working on the best plan to keep Olivia's necessities contained. He does work every day all day in that office. Having things cluttered up is not his style.

Anyway, the latest and greatest pad for Olivia is right on the bottom shelf in the office. Everything fits nice and neat. She loves burrowing into the deep cube and her litter pan fits right on the shelf.

Don't worry, rabbit litter doesn't stink so the smell won't bother Jimmy!!

A Moment in the Gato House

I got home today and everyone was riled up. After they blew some steam running around the house like maniacs they settled down. They were all hanging out with me in the office. When I got up to get the camera, little Koof was on my chair.

Felix was on the floor "grooming." And Simone was up far and away on the pedestal.

Not two minutes after I snapped these pictures Lulu walked accross my desk to where the window is, the shade was totally drawn. She was poking around behind the shade and suddenly decided to LEAP up onto the little ridge where the bottom window separates from the top.

Well, she is little, but not THAT little. She immediately lost her balance and came down with a thud. On the way down she triggered the shade to go up so, well. Now we are chilling with the shade up.

Litter of Kittens, Part 3

Waiting to release the mother and her seven kittens at the SPCA was not as easy as we thought either. It was cat central there, with a waiting room full of people turning over unwanted cats.

It was actually pretty sad.

Some were for health reasons, many were stray cats and there was even one releasing the cat because they simply did not want it anymore!

Meanwhile, mother nursed her kittens, can you see that in this picture? Although three of the littlest ones could not get in on the action and were left on the outside. The rest of them nursed happily while they waited.

Litter of Kittens, Part 2

We did return to the house with the litter of cats. We brought the large dog crate and proceeded to "scoop" up the litter with their mother.

However, it was a little bit more difficult than we thought it would be.

Have you ever tried to catch a scared, stray kitten? Well, try catching SEVEN!

The scene was quite comical if you were watching it from an air conditioned room. But unfortunately we were out in the high heat of the day (probably 98 degrees with 98% humidity) chasing kittens with an old Latina woman in a sort of thin moo-moo. We were grabbing little tiny kittens and putting them in the cage. In the end, as you can see, we caught all seven of them!

I wish you could see how small these kittens really were. Most of them could fit in the palm of your hand.

Litter of Kittens, Part I

We were doing our Food For Seniors route and the first stop was an old woman who told Jimmy she had not eaten in two days. Very sad. When Jimmy turned to go back to the car he saw a surprising sight. A large cat sat beside SEVEN little kittens. They were all very small and did not look cared for.

Jimmy asked the lady if they were hers. She said, "No, they are not mine. They do not belong to anyone."

Then Jimmy asked her if she wanted them there or if he could take them to the doctor to get looked at and better fed. She said yes.

We came back later that day with this very large dog crate and the intent to just scoop the whole family up and take them to the SPCA.

Maxine and Olivia

***Note: This was a supervised encounter!

Fight for Lettuce

We filled Olivia's little metal ball with lettuce as a treat - it is a fun way for her to have to "work" for her snacks just like the cats do. She was throwing it around and having a good time when who joins in the fun? Simone! They were trying to take it from each other and having a great time doing so. It was great to see them playing so well together.

But still, Simone should not be eating lettuce!!!! She is a CAT not a RABBIT!

Fried

Felix and Simone are looking at the picture on Jimmy's computer of the little Simpson's cat barfing. Koof of coarse cannot be bothered, she is too busy getting french fried!

Back at the Ranch

Meanwhile, back at the ranch . . .

MELTED CHEESE!

Koof is helping Jimmy with his homework!

Parker

This is Parker. Parker has quite a story to tell. He used to live in Houston, TX! While living in Houston he was in a car accident. When the SUV flipped over, Parker got out and even though he was injured he ran off terrified of the experience.

They looked and looked and looked for him. Out of nowhere they stumbled about a woman who had taken Parker in and tried to nurse his wounds. It was amazing that they found each other again!

Parker has been with the family through the move to California, the addition of a few more kids and another dog, Baily. Now he has traveled across country to a new home in New Jersey! Do you think he will like snow?

Milano

I hope I am remembering this cats name correctly! Please tell me if I am wrong, Piper. This is a beautiful cat that just moved from Glendora, CA to New Jersey! Can you imagine having to go from one coast of the nation to the other?

If you can believe it, this cat was TEN POUNDS bigger than in this picture when she moved. The move and the new house really trimmed her down! I am sure she likes being a bit more agile!

Jackie

This is Jackie, a guinea pig who lives with Emiliano and Lili. She is named after their mom's jacket - her jacket is black and white!!!

She is very little but has a big cage with a running wheel so she can run really fast. It keeps her nice and trim!

She is a great little pet! Next time you are in Boston you should check go visit her.

Boston Cats

These two cats were in the Boston family neighborhood. Isn't that cat sitting on the top of the car look like the boss of the hood?

Simone Watches Olivia

This is a great picture of Simone watching Olivia, who now scamps about the house freely. She has really come out of her shell and it is a pleasure to watch!

The cats sometimes try to swat her but she is just as feisty back.

Felix continues to be spooked. Just to mess around with him she will take a hop toward him, to which he responds by taking a step backwards cautiously eyeing her. Very funny!

Marley Can't Settle Down

Marley came over for an impromtu play group. She just can't settle down at our place! I guess because everything is new, it smells like cats and now has the additional exciting scent of rabbit.

They went out and played a bit but mostly Marley just wanted to explore and investigate every nook and cranny.

This is her moving from window to window watching the cats outside!

Scavengers

After I cooked some chicken, the cats were going crazy over the smell. They were scamping about trying to catch any wiff of the delicious chicken.

I felt something at my feet and was surprised to find Olivia at my feet! She also got a piece of lettuce I had dropped when cutting her food.

Simone Hates Part 2

She hates it.

Simone gets to go to this place of peace and quiet and rest from the burden of the little cat Lulu and, well, she hates it!

She went around and up and down and through all the rooms, doors, halls and spaces - crying, crying, crying throughout them all.

The only point she showed any interest in was the loft! All our talk about how cats like change, this one did not seem to like it. Perhaps there was something else going on? We will see!

Simone Hates Part 1

All the stuff from the fire arrived back to us this week so we stashed it in the other garage. All the animal cages were in that stash so we had this little weak cardboard cage to transport the animals.

We thought we would take each of the cats over to the new place to see what they thought. I personally wanted Simone to go over there to see that she had a place she could have solace from Lulu. I thought it would be perfect!

Well, as you can see she couldn't even wait until we got there to jump out of the cage!

Maxine Runs Her Route

Maxine had to do her delivery to needy dogs this weekend. You can see she is wearing her IM volunteer kerchief. For some reason there was one particular dog that really got her all riled up! It was a house with actually five dogs that I could see and count. Two were tied up (yuck) and the other three were running around like maniacs.

Olivia Makes the Noah's Ark Scene

Sunday morning Noah's Ark Scene has been completed by Olivia. We are now official.

This is Lulu at the end of the bed in picture number one and then in the second picture that is Simone.

However, we have yet to have both Olivia and Max on the bed at the same time. This third picture was the closest we could get.

For some reason, Felix is still easily spooked by the rabbit. He wouldn't come up on the bed as long as she was there and he sat looking at her slightly cowering.
