Motorcycle Dog

So, this is my motorcycle get up. I am not usually a big "pink" person but when you ride a motorcycle it is ALL about visibility. Pink is actually a pretty noticeable color, like white. Anyway, Maxine really actually hates this outfit. She does NOT like Jimmy or I to be in a full face helmet.

Today was clear, humid and actually kind of nice. On the bird feeder we saw two blue jays and a cardinal. Very beautiful! I hope to snap a picture for you. Jimmy is standing by!

Lulu is enjoying a little bit of bird TV. The smaller birds are the only ones who can fit on the little bird feeder. The larger birds, like this dove or pigeon, just get the seeds that fall from the feeder. Lulu doesn't care, she just likes to watch birds!

Sharing

I walked into the kitchen today and there was Simone and Lulu, sharing the sun patch. Usually one of them is kicking the other one off the sun patch but today they were both lazy and enjoying the sunshine!

Garden

Our first vegetables! A little tomato growing and peppers ready to harvest.

2 jalapenos, 1 serrano chili and one tomato. Lots of herbs and lettuce!!

More Bird TV

I snuck in on Simone and Lulu chattering away at the birds today! Those birds go through a lot of seed! I filled it half way a few days ago and it is already empty (my next chore).

These cats love Bird TV!

Marley Over

Marley came over last night and she is totally up to her old shinanigans. She was obsessing over the cats, trying to steal Max's bone (which i promptly put away) and kept barking at the poor woman who lives in the town home behind us every time she would get up to make some tea.

That's our girl Marley Bob!

***CORRECTION***

The new cat's name is MacRib, not McRib!

Bird Chattering

I was working away gently trying not to get bit by Felix when Simone came tearing in here walking low, like she is stalking something, and chattering her mouth as cats do when they are enticed by prey. Sure enough, I look out the window and two birds are in the bird feeder.

Simone sits looking out the window chattering away until Lulu comes in for some of the action and spoils all her fun!

Back for Bites

Within a few minutes of posting the last post Felix hopped on the desk, parked himself in the middle of all my collage stuff and would bite me any time I went for the mouse!

Mean Co-workers

I had to come home a little early today and let Max out so I was working from home the rest of the afternoon. Well, I should say TRYING to work. That is my computer behind Felix and he is laying directly in front of the keyboard. This poses some challenges to working at home, usually solved by putting him OUT of the room. Which is still not a fool proof system because he sits at the door and yowls. It is hardly a normal or cute little "Meow." It sounds more like a man (human) being tortured and screaming "Allah." I am not exaggerating. He does this in the morning too after he finishes eating and yet he is still secluded in the bathroom.

Usually when I have to keep moving him he eventually puffs up, bites me and tries to swat my hand away like a fly. Today (for now) he actually backed off. I am sure he is taking that energy and beating up on one of the girls. He is so mean!

Gross Bone Chopper

Maxine got a luxurious bath yesterday and is soft and smells great. She got a bone in the sun today as Jimmy was getting ready for his trip. Tonight we walked, took a truck ride and played in the back yard. She actually came in when I called to her.

After I took this picture I noticed she had red bone slime on her lips by her mouth. GROSS! I am so glad I don't let her "kiss" me! Blech!

Sleep Contest

McRib Montage

Introducing . . . McRib! McRib is a light gray and dark gray brindled feral cat who has recently adopted us. He lives under our step and loves to lay out in the warm sunshine. Here she is peering out at me from under the shade of the steps.

I have been reluctant to admit it, but yes we have a new cat! We didn't choose this one at the SPCA or plan on adopting another animal. We had a few old women who fed all the neighborhood cats. Two of them passed away and another one went into a retirement community.

Since that time, McRib has been our new outside only cat. At first Jimmy was just feeding her, I kept warning him that by feeding her or him we were basically adopting them. I kept resisting. But Jimmy's soft heart won out in the end. In his mind there is a hungry animal on the porch who we can easily accommodate. Why not feed the hungry kid?

Now, he hears the commotion as the general hype of feeding rises in the morning and the evening and gets in on the fun! You can hear McRib meowing on the porch reading for breakfast!

My First Crane

My friend Leslie has been challenging me to expand my artwork into the third dimension. I have been resistant for no other reason than I don't really think about it, I just do what I do. She gave me an origami kit and I have made a few things and it is great fun. Today I made my first crane! Koof thought it was the best new toy she's ever chewed on. It was perfect for today since we are all rained in with massive thunderstorms and inches of rain on the ground. I love Texas thunderstorms!

Spring Birds

Jimmy got the gear to make this bird feeder. Ever since our red ceramic feeder broke the cats have missed bird TV! And now that spring has sprung, the birds are back!

This cute little bird with some blue in its feathers is enjoying the seed on a warm afternoon!

All Aboard

Out of the blue this week all the animals decided to band together and sleep on the bed . . . all day long! Usually this is reserved for a Sunday morning, while Jimmy and I read the paper and then the animals extend it into an all day snoozefest.

Bones 4 All!

Bones for one, bones for all! It was a lovely day to be outside reading, gnawing on bones and doing homework. The dogs excelled at the second task while Jimmy and I rallies for task one and three. As a team, we got them all done!

World's Fastest Couch Potatoes

Last night we were waiting for Marley to come over and the world's fastest couch potatoes lived up to their names. Lazy lazy dogs!

We were not sure how Nino and Marley would get along so we put Nino's muzzle on. They had some opening words with one another and Marley kept trying to assert her dominance. Nino kind of growled and let her know he wasn't a push over like the other greyhound males she has met (they have been, by the way, right off the track and a little bit overwhelmed to say the least).

After that they got along fine. I wish they had played a bit more as a group but I guess we will see how they do the next time!

The Kid is Back!

Nino is staying with us this weekend! He is so mellow compared to Marley or the foster greyhounds we have had in the past. Maxine had a vet appointment with a nail trim today and so he came along and got his nails done too.

The vet said he had dropped four pounds since last month so they were a little worried about it. I hope he is ok!

Sunshine Girls

Simone and Lulu have a daily routine of going from sun patch to sun patch and then fighting over the spot. Felix doesn't care at all about sun patches, he prefers to scour the neighborhood for any cats that may come into his turf.

I was working from home Friday and these two were fighting over the little spot left under my chair so I moved to the side of my desk and pulled out the mattress so they could BOTH enjoy the sun patch!

The Sistine Chapel for gatos!

Peas Falling Out of a Pod

They just don't fit in the clam together like they used to!

Office Help

Jimmy's office assistant.

The whole office is wondering what's going to happen if IBM buys Sun Microsystems. Koof is pretty sure they will fire Jimmy before they fire her so she's not worried!
