Chasin n Chillin

After her exhasting day chasing cars and making us loco here is Maxine enjoying the sunshine and beach air after a hard days work!

Disobedient Dog

This photo was taken just a few minutes before Maxine got the bright idea to CHASE A CAR down the beach, not only running on the sides of the car but getting up in front of the car as if to play with it. We were horrified and obviously she lost the beach freedom she loves so much.

It actually started the day before when she chased a car with a dog in it down the beach. But she never caught up to it and then she ran all the way back to us immediately. We think it made her get the idea that cars have dogs in them and therefore she must chase the cars in order to play with the dogs. Whatever her logic it put a real damper on the trip, i almost had a heart attack chasing after her with my rubber boots on (see picture below of Jimmy and I in our rubber boots).

Sharks Continued

So there was one more shark in the contest, this is shark number 3. It actually had a huge body attached to it that you could walk through! There will be video of that on our next DVD!

Sophia put in her vote but she can change it if she thinks this one is even scarier!

Sharks in Port A

It appears that there is a competition to see what cheesy beach shop can have the biggest shark structure in Port Aransas.

We are collecting pictures this year of Maxine in various shark mouths and the like. Here are the first two photos taken, which one do you think is scarier???

In the Shark II

Max Loves the Beach

Another year in Port Aransas, TX. Maxine spends her days running up and down the beach (and sometimes into the dunes). It is confirmed, verified and bonafide - greyhounds love to run!!!

A car with a dog in it passed by and she got so excited we had to hold onto her collar until the car was far in the distance. Well, we didn't hold it long enough. Next thing we know she has become a little dot on the horizon as she chased the car all the way down the beach and then came running back to us.

So far she always comes back, but sometimes its hard to tell what her intentions are. She ran into the dunes and would not come back to us for all the yelling and whistling we would do!

She runs and runs until she is so tired out she has to catch some zzz's in the shade under the truck!

Crow's Nest

Yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me.

This is Lulu in her little crow's nest. This is her only spot she can be completely alone. None of the other cats can get to this spot since the bowl is so little. It is her own little get away space.

Jimmy appropriately put the jolly roger sticker on it recently, now it is called the Crow's Nest.

Nimbus in the Bowl

Sunshine!

This is a great picture of my sister Lara's cat Nimbus. We gave her one of these bowls for Christmas and it took him awhile to warm up to it, but warm up he did indeed!

He has found the perfect spot to curl himself in there with a healthy dose of sunshine! I love the way his little paws are crossed. He looks so content, toasty and comfortable.

Also, he is in cosmis communion with our gatos who also have the same bowl. The only difference is his says NIMBUS on the side and ours says GATO BOWL.

I love this picture Lara!

Jackie the Amazing

This is the newest member to our Guerrero extended family, Jackie the Guinea Pig.

Lili and Emiliano love little Jackie. They tell us all kinds of stories about her and her eating habits and what she likes to do. Lili says she takes her to bed with her! Is that crazy or what!

Santa brought Jackie to them this year. They named her after a jacket that Carolyn has that is black and white. At first she was called "Jacket" but soon the more endearing name Jackie emerged.

Welcome to the family little Jackie!

Does she have any nicknames like our cats do???

Birds are Back!

Bird migration season has begun. Jimmy has seen the robins in full swing and we expect to start seeing blue jays, cardinals and all the other birds we get this time of year.

The cats couldn't be happier! The bowl is typically at the edge of my desk, looking out of the large office window to the tree, fence and bird feeder we have outside. It begins teeming with birds who hang out in the feeder, if they can, and, if not, on the fence and roof of our neighbors house. The bird feeder is ceramic and in the shape of an egg with little perches in the perfect spot to sit and snack. The perches are small, intentionally, so smaller birds have an easier time feeding than larger birds. Often the larger pigeons and doves sit and wait for seed to fall on the ground so they can swoop down and steal the seed. They are not the only ones waiting, the squirrels also watch and wait.

As you can see, they watch the birds until they are yawning for sleep, tired but wanting to stay awake to watch Bird TV.

Do you remember in the DVD when we put seed on the window sill and the squirrel came right up to the window with the cats watching intently?

Territory

Felix is the most territorial of the cats, which is not surprising since he is the male cat. If Felix catches sight of another cat on the property he will follow him, going from window to window. With each move to the next lookout, he gets more and more worked up, frustrated and upset about the situation. He really wants to go out there and chase them off the property.

This picture is sort of his typical watch and stare down stance. His tail is generally wagging very sharply and quickly.

If this goes on for too long with another cat he may eventually take his frustrations out on an unsuspecting Lulu in the form of a BOP on the head. It doesn't phase Lulu at all, she just bops him back and starts a brawl or if she's not in the mood she sort of gives him a look like "whatever" and simply walks away, retreating to her favorite bowl at the top of the cat tree where noone else fits so she can be entirely alone.

Two Cats in One Bowl

This picture needs little explanation.

How many cats do you think can fit in one bowl?

Buffalo Tail

At our local raw pet food store we purchased Maxine a buffalo tail to gnaw on. Do you know what a buffalo looks like? Well, here is a picture right here. They are very big animals and the tail was quite a treat.

Here is a picture of Maxine with the tail, starting to chew the tail and then after she had worked it down to a little clump that she desperately wanted to take in the house and finish off on her bed (our bed!).

Nino in the Sweater

Last weekend we had a fun visit with Nino, the fawn greyhound who used to live on our street.
He looks so cute here with the striped sweater on! Maxine and him seemed to get along just like old times. We wondered how the remembered one another, is it their smell???
