Meet Kona

Kona came to us from a local rescue. We are temporarily fostering her. So far she is integrating well into the family. She is very feisty,  has a lot of energy and despite her amputation she really can walk and run and play just fine. She listens to the cats warnings to back off, which is very good. Our first priority is ensuring that Cricket is safe since she cannot leap up to safety.

Kona's challenges as a three-legged dog are to keep her weight down so there is no additional stress on her front leg. She needs to build up her muscles and stamina as keeping her very fit will also help her quality of life. Other than that, she should be just like a four legged dog. We will take her to obedience class and if she is interested to agility class as well. She will go on Fort Funston runs with Shannon as soon as she is able to.
